Schattenspieler themselves describe their sound as Darkrock. Once grim and dark, then suddenly melancholic and soft keyboards decorate the sound, as well as hard riffs from lead, rhythm and bass guitar. Although certain influences from several mainstream gothic, rock or metal bands like Nightwish, Rammstein, Paradise Lost, HIM or Megahertz could be found if so wanted, Schattenspieler never tried to even look in that direction.
